In the last few weeks I posted some music on soundcloud as part of Disquiet‘s Junto. The first mixed the sound of a high way with a sort of oscillating electronic track. The second is me riffing on both my trombone and a music making app called NodeBeat. I’ll have a whole review of the app in the next week or so. Click through to hear the music.
For this track, I took the oscillating volumes of cars and mixed it with the volumes of the oscillating electronics. I tried to really attack the instructions and not think about adding too many of my own bells and whistles. When approaching creative restrictions like the Junto, I think focusing on the essential elements of the task draws out the most of my creativity.
I recorded this one today. It’s a bit of rough around the edges, but the take from the trombone captured my intention and I didn’t want to lose the spontaneity for polish. The nodebeat track is run through Audio Damage’s automaton. The title comes from seeing a bunch of people posting this article on facebook this weekend. Why anyone would adopt an owl and then just get bored of it is beyond me.
